As expected, the Cardinals announced last week that all eight members of their coaching staff will return for the 2016 season. The news came one week after GM John Mozeliak announced that every member of Mike Matheny’s staff had been offered contract extensions.

This will be the first time in Mike Matheny’s four-year managerial tenure that he doesn’t have any turnover in his staff.

The coaching staff that will return in 2016, along with their number of years with the major-league club:

  • David Bell: Bench Coach (2 years)
  • Derek Lilliquist: Pitching Coach (5)
  • Blaise Ilsley: Bullpen Coach (3)
  • John Mabry: Hitting Coach (3)
  • Bill Mueller: Assistant Hitting Coach (1)
  • Chris Maloney: First Base Coach (4)
  • Jose Oquendo: Third Base Coach (16)

Mike Matheny is under contract as manager through the 2017 season after signing an extension following the 2013 World Series.
