A few minor-league transactions, via MLB.com’s Jenifer Langosch:

  • After being designated for assignment and outrighted by the Cardinals, well-traveled first baseman Dan Johnson (pictured) has elected free agency. Signed to a minor-league deal in early May after being released by the Reds, the 36-year-old collected just three hits in the majors this season and will likely have to settle for a non-guaranteed minors contract if he wants to continue his playing career.
  • The Cardinals have also signed 5-11, 205 pound catcher Eric Garcia of Missouri Baptist University to a minor-league deal.
