After a 16-year career, seven-time All-Star outfielder Alfonso Soriano has decided to retire from baseball. Soriano announced his decision during a radio interview on Tuesday, saying “I’ve lost the love and passion to play the game.” The Dominican Republic native, a natural second baseman who converted to the outfield, tallied 412 home runs with 1159 RBI and 289 stolen bases since his major league debut with the Yankees back in 1999.
