Friday morning ESPN and Major League Baseball announced that the opening day game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field has been selected for opening night of the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball broadcast on Sunday, April 5 to kick of the 2015 MLB Season.
The game has been shifted from its original date of Monday, April 9 and will begin just after 7 pm in St. Louis on ESPN2. The opening showdown will feature the newly renovated Wrigley Field as well as new Cubs manager Joe Maddon as the Cubs take on their oldest rivals at one of the most historic parks in baseball.
The remainder of the series between the two teams will be played on April 7 and 8 and then after another off day the Cardinals kick off a series at Cincinnati on April 10.
