- Cards skipper Mike Matheny announced on his website that he will wear No. 26 this upcoming season to honor his late friend Sean Glanvill, who was just 12 years old when he suffered a severe brain injury in a car accident. Glanvill died in November at the age of 20. - The Cardinals selected Marco Gonzales and Magneuris Sierra as their annual Minor League Pitcher and Player of the Year for the 2014 Season. Gonzales’ name will certainly sound familiar to most Cards fans, as the 22-year-old appeared in ten games for the big-league club this past season. At just 18, Sierra hit .386 in Rookie Ball in the Gulf Coast League while appearing in right and center field.
