The Cardinals announced Friday afternoon that outfielder Tommy Pham has been recalled from AAA Memphis and will be in the lineup when the redbirds square off against the San Diego Padres in the second game of a four game series. The 27-year old, who has batted batted .338 with five home runs and six steals over 24 games for Memphis since returning from a quad injury, will bat eighth and start in center field.
In a corresponding roster move, Thursday’s starter, lefty Tim Cooney, was optioned to Memphis. Cooney allowed three runs, two earned, over six innings against the Padres in the 5-3 loss.
