First full-squad workout approaching, pitchers to get a breather

Although many position players have been down at Spring Training crafting their own daily routines for a several days, Tuesday marks the required date for all Cardinals players to be in Florida, and Wednesday marks the club’s first full-squad workout of the spring. Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that after all 26 pitchers at big-league camp have thrown bullpen sessions in the last few days, no one is scheduled to throw on Tuesday in preparation for the full-squad workout the following day. From Hummel’s article:

Once the position players, who already are working out anyway on their own, are in tow for Wednesday’s drills, pitchers will begin throwing to hitters in batting practice scenarios.

…The Cardinals will have eight days of full-squad workouts before their first exhibition game against Miami here on March 5. Tuesday’s drills for hurlers will cover bunting and fielding, among other non-pitching issues.
