Cardinals outfielder Randal Grichuk acknowledged following Wednesday’s 4-2 win over the Pirates that he’s been dealing with a sore left foot for a number of weeks now.
“I’m trying to get past that,” Grichuk told MLB.com’s Jenifer Langosch. “It’s getting better, but it’s still there.”
The 24-year-old, who’s in the midst of a breakout year for the redbirds, has been receiving daily treatment to reduce some of the muscle discomfort.
After losing his footing on an Andrew McCutchen line drive (which led to a triple) on Wednesday night, Grichuk ended up sparking the Cardinals’ game-winning rally with a single in the sixth inning.
“Any time you make a mistake,” Grichuk said, “you have to put it behind you, or it’s going to affect you the rest of the game.”
