Harris’ historic debut

29-year-old navy lieutenant Mitch Harris, who spent five years with the U.S. Navy, became the first graduate of the United States Naval Academy since 1921 to appear in a Major League game when he made his major-league debut following Wainwright’s early exit.

Harris struck out his first batter and despite allowing two hits and two walks, he didn’t surrender a run in his 1 1/3 innings of work.
