  • After throwing two scoreless innings at AA Springfield in the past few days, rehabbing right-hander Jordan Walden is headed to Memphis to continue his rehab assignment with the AAA team. The Cardinals anticipate Walden, who’s been sidelined since the end of April with right biceps inflammation, to return to the team some time within the next week, but likely want him to throw on back-to-back days before that happens.
  • As he continues to work his way back from a shoulder impingement injury, left-hander Marco Gonzales struggled in his first AAA outing, surrendering four runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings. While this start may be a bit of a setback, GM John Mozeliak said recently he expects Gonzales to be ready to contribute to the big-league club in the near future.
