ST. LOUIS (TEAM RELEASE) – The St. Louis Cardinals announced (Tuesday) afternoon that they have activated outfielder Matt Holliday from the 15-day disabled list prior to tonight’s series opener in Milwaukee.

Holliday, 35, had missed the past 41 games since going on the disabled list on July 30 with a right quadriceps strain. The All-Star outfielder was also on the disabled list from June 9 to July 16 with a right quadriceps strain and upon his return, he appeared in 11 games while collecting this 275th career homer on July 21 against the White Sox before re-injuring himself on July 29.

In 63 games this season, Holliday is batting .290 with 4 HR’s and 31 RBI. He was voted a starter on the National League All-Star team for the first time in his career, but did not play due to injury. It was his 7th All-Star selection overall.
