JUPITER, Fla. • X-rays taken Saturday afternoon here in Jupiter on Stephen Piscotty’s left elbow showed no fracture after a pitch from Mets pitcher Stolmy Pimentel struck the outfielder, forcing him to leave an eventual 14-9 Cardinals victory in Port St. Lucie, ESPN’s Mark Saxon reports.
“It’s a little tender. It’s swollen up right now,” Piscotty told reporters, including MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo, after the game. “No bruising yet. We’ll see in the morning. We’ll take it day by day. I’m pretty encouraged. I’ve got pretty good strength in my hand. Can’t quite extend (arm) all the way, but I’m pretty relieved how it feels after the way it felt when I got hit. It could have done some damage.”

The outfielder left the Cardinals’ clubhouse in Jupiter, where he returned for exams, with his elbow wrapped up, and is likely to get a few days off, Saxon writes.
Piscotty, who has luckily escaped any significant injury, has been one of the team’s best hitters thus far this spring, batting .429 (6-14) with a 1.029 OPS over six Grapefruit League contests.
