The Oakland Athletics announced on Monday that they have hired Cardinals Director of Scouting Dan Kantrovitz to serve as the team’s Assistant General Manager behind GM Billy Beane.
Kantrovitz was drafted by the Cardinals in the 25th round of the 2001 draft, although his playing career did not last long. Between 2004 and 2008 Kantrovitz served as the Assistant Scouting Director as well as the Director of College Scouting, and also helped develop the Cardinals computer system. In 2009, Kantrovitz served as the head of international scouting for the Athletics before returning to the Cardinals as Director of Scouting after Jeff Luhnow left for the Astros.
