Nearly one month after hitting the disabled list for the second time this season, Cardinals outfielder Jon Jay is still not close to a return to the field. MLB.com’s Jenifer Langosch reports that Jay, who’s been sidelined with wrist discomfort, has still not been cleared to resume swinging, and general manager John Mozeliak said that there is no timetable in place for him to do so again.

Jay, who missed most of May with wrist tendinitis, had minor surgery on the wrist in the offseason after experiencing discomfort occasionally throughout the last few years.

In 65 at-bats once he returned on May 29,  the 30-year-old hit just .185 with only two extra-base hits. While sidelined the first time, Jay worked to rest and strengthen his wrist, but soon after his return from a minor-league rehab assignment the pain began to return and Jay was put on the shelf once again.
