Cardinals sign outfielder Carlos Peguero to minor-league contract

The Cardinals announced on Friday the signing of outfielder Carlos Peguero to a minor-league contract with an invitation to major league Spring Training.

Peguero, 28, has hit just .194/.263/.384 with 13 home runs across 319 big-league plate appearances, but owns a .273/.335/.511 batting lines over parts of ten minor-league seasons.

Known for his all-or-nothing approach at the plate, Peguero, who has appeared primarily in the outfield corners over the past few years, did hit 30 home runs while playing at the AAA level as recently as 2014.
