Following Monday’s rain-shortened game against the Boston Red Sox, the Cardinals announced four roster moves, optioning infielder Aledmys Diaz and catcher Cody Stanley to Class AAA Memphis, as well as re-assigning non-roster outfielder Rafael Ortega and catcher Travis Tartamella to the same team.

Diaz, 24, spent significant time on the disabled list with a shoulder issue in 2014 after signing with the Cardinals last Spring Training. In his short time with Palm Beach (A) and Springfield (AA), Diaz hit .273 with 5 home runs and 7 stolen bases.

Stanley was a Texas League All-Star this past season, when he hit .283 with 12 home runs and 43 RBIs in 103 games for Springfield.

Ortega, 23, appeared most recently in the majors with the Rockies in 2012, and hit .249 in 101 games last season for Springfield, where he spent most of the season.

Tartamella, 27, collected just one at-bat this spring and hit just .174 between AA and AAA last season.
