Two innings after Michael Wacha exited Friday night’s game against the Brewers with what was diagnosed as a non-severe right heel contusion, the Cardinals watched as Trevor Rosenthal walked gingerly off the field with what was later described as hamstring spasms.

Rosenthal appeared to wince after a pitch to Ramon Flores, and Yadier Molina quickly called for manager Mike Matheny and a trainer before Rosenthal exited just ten pitches into his outing. The team’s former closer ended up taking the loss after Kirk Nieuwenhuis, who he walked to lead off the inning, scored on a single from Jonathan Villar off of Seung Hwan Oh.

After the game, GM John Mozeliak told ESPN.com’s Mark Saxon that Rosenthal was experiencing hamstring spasms, and while the right-hander was not scheduled for an MRI, the full severity of the issue will not be known until Saturday.
